Reading Scripture in Labor

There are several ways you can incorporate the use of scripture reading into your birth.

You can read the Bible yourself.

You can have a coach or other assistant read the Bible to you.

You can quote scripture you have memorized.

You can have your coach or assistant repeat a few verses that have been meaningful to you.

You can write your favorite birth verses on index cards, and focus on them during contractions.

Place verses on index cards around your home or wherever you will be laboring. As you walk around, stop at each verse and read it.

If you are a visual person, during contractions close your eyes and imagine the words of your favorite verse scrolling across your minds eye.

Make a tape of yourself reading your favorite verses. During labor, play the tape.

Listen to the Bible on tape or CD while you labor.
