Use a Heating Pad for the Discomfort

The heat from a heating pad can be soothing on a sore back, and can be applied in almost any position the mother feels is comfortable.

Pelvic Rocking

Pelvic rocking helps to get rid of lower back pain and is comfortable during pregnancy. It is also useful for turning a posterior baby, a common cause of backache during labor.

Taking a Bath or Shower

The warm water of a bath or shower can help to relieve the discomfort of a backache. The additional pressure of a shower can act as a massage on the lower back as well. Many women find a bath is soothing because it takes some of the weight of the uterus off the mother’s back.
